CANOEING
BLISS
Sliding silently over the shimmering stream
Sun shine flooding the canoe with its beam
Warming our bodies as we paddle with glee
Looking for wild life we know we will see.
A kingfisher swoops skilfully down
from a branch
He scoops up a fish with skill, not by chance
A brown bill duck glides silently by
Then it spreads its wings and takes to the sky.
Out of the water I see a fish splash
Flipping its tail then it’s off with a dash
Rippling the water with patterns galore
This is the place I really adore.
A sunny sandy spot slides into view
A good place for lunch and to stretch our legs too
We paddle ashore and have a quick bite
Then it’s back in the canoe to see what we might
Little lizard lingering lazily looking for food
Better watch out fly or you will be chewed
A long necked turtle goes paddling past
Did you know that they can swim very fast?
Sun slowing sinking, sky shiny red
An Ibis lifts off, going home to its bed
It is so peaceful out here, I wish I could stay
But home we must go for it
is the end of the day.
